Golf Course Superintendent Position
Woods Fort Golf Club in Troy, MO is an 18-hole, daily fee facility operated by Walter’s Golf
Management and averages over 30,000 rounds per year. Approximately 30 minutes from the St.
Louis County area. The course consists of zoysia fairways, tees, and bentgrass greens. The
course was opened for play in 1994. A new irrigation pump station is to be installed within the
next month. New equipment will be ordered for next spring (2023). A new multi-million-dollar
event center is now under construction. This Troy/ Lincoln County area is thriving now.
The ideal candidate for this position will be goal-oriented and can confidently make decisions.
They must possess strong leadership skills with the ability to teach, train, and develop employees

The superintendent works independently in overseeing the maintenance and agronomic practices
of the golf course and adjacent grounds, including the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance.
The responsibilities below also include overseeing the repair and maintenance of all golf courserelated equipment. The superintendent also assists in maintaining a clean service area and
maintenance building, contributes to a preventative maintenance program, and warrants safety
procedures as a top priority.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
 Maintains all grounds including the golf course, clubhouse surrounds, and other
maintainable areas
 Supervises all planting, fertilizing, and chemical applications, and other care of turf,
plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and clubhouse surroundings
 Hires, supervises and develops the Assistant Superintendent, Equipment Manager, and
other employees in the maintenance department
 Coordinates scheduling of all personnel assigned to the department
 Prepares and manages annual budget plan for the golf course maintenance operation on
an annual basis, with help from a WGM Representative.
 Maintains inventory and oversees all repairs and scheduled maintenance of all golf course
equipment
 Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees of the
maintenance department
 Supervises maintenance and operation of drainage, irrigation, and other mechanical
watering systems
 Develops chemical and fertilizing plan on an annual basis, with help from a WGM
Representative.
 Ensures the golf course is providing healthy and high-quality playing conditions for
guests of the property
 Prepares and maintains all record-keeping for the Maintenance Department (i.e., Human
Resource Files, inventory files, fertilization, and chemical application logs)
 Position will be required to work a varied schedule that takes on the responsibility of the
job

Qualifications and Experience
 3-7 years of turfgrass management experience required
 Supervisory, coaching, and staff development experience required
 Associates degree in related field or two-year turfgrass certificate preferred, but not
required
 Knowledge of budgeting and expense management
 GCSAA Member preferred, but not required
 Knowledge of budgeting and expense management
 Knowledge of local, federal, and state laws and regulations affecting the management of
golf course operations
 Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business
 Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 Must be highly organized and efficient with high attention to detail
 Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a MO pesticide applicator license
 Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
 Must have basic computer skills, including, but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel
 Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
